My career first started in a small editorial cubicle in 2012, where I had landed my post-grad “dream job" working alongside the talented writers at Southern Living magazine. I was passionate about storytelling and downright determined to establish myself as the next great journalist. Except....
I quickly realized that my dream job had nothing to do with writing at all.
Fascinated by the art department, I studied designers piecing together layouts, formatting cover designs, and strategizing styled shoots whenever I had the chance. I realized their work not only supported the editorial story (bringing words into vivid color!), but it also actually helped SELL the story in the first place.
Five years later, I found myself working in brand marketing for a national retail brand still unfulfilled creatively. One afternoon, I spontaneously enrolled in a few Adobe design classes, and that little seed was all I needed to start dreaming of the possibilities for my own design agency.
Like any list-abiding, goal-chasing Enneagram 1, my hobby quickly turned into a full-time business when I launched Kindly in 2018. Branding has become my undeniable sweet spot, and allows me to merge my strategy-driven background with my love for visual design. Needless to say, now EVERY work day is a dream!
Honestly, I never imagined this WOULD be my future.
After graduating from college with a degree in marketing + entrepreneurship, I quickly realized that the classroom hadn’t given me a chance to really explore the creative side of marketing. I found Kindly on Instagram and reached out to to see if there was anyyyyyy chance Kelsea would be willing to tutor me in some graphic design basics.
We met up for coffee in the fall of 2019 and what started as an offer of a side hustle turned into my joining the Kindly team as Kelsea’s first intern.
Today, I spend my time researching fonts, designing collateral and building out Showit sites for our amazing clients. My M.O. is that I will figure it out with a lil' help from Google.
When I'm not at the studio, I can be found photographing couples in love or reading a book with a glass of wine in hand.
this is the story of how a dm turned into a dream job.
If you're tired of spinning your wheels (and wasting your time!) on a whole lot of DIY branding that isn't moving the needle.
If you're desperate for guidance with your visuals (from people who have your BEST interests at heart).
If you're missing out on your ideal client, and you know your branding is part of the problem.
If you feel disconnected to your brand, and you're ready for something meaningful and custom.
